Natural Gas Infrastructure
With integral pipelines that enable natural gas to be transported to major markets in the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast, we have the experience, the network and the resources to successfully develop customized natural gas solutions for tomorrow.
The midstream pipelines we own and operate received zero pipeline safety violations after undergoing nearly 40 state and federal inspections. We also operate more than 42 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage.
Natural Gas Pipelines
Cameron Interstate Pipeline – In Operation
The Cameron Interstate Pipeline is a 36-mile natural gas pipeline in South Louisiana that links the Cameron LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana to five interstate pipelines that transport natural gas to major markets.
LA Storage Pipeline – In Operation
LA Storage Pipeline is a 23.3-mile natural gas pipeline header system located in Calcasieu and Beauregard Parishes near the city of Sulphur, Louisiana that has interconnections with six major pipelines throughout the Gulf Region.
Southern Gas Transmission – In Operation
Southern Gas Transmission (SGT) is involved in the intrastate transportation of natural gas in Alabama. In 1992, SGT constructed and began operating a 50-mile pipeline from Gulf South pipeline to the facilities of Alabama River Cellulose Company in Claiborne, Alabama.
Cameron Pipeline Expansion – In Construction
Sempra is developing a 21-mile expansion of its Cameron Interstate Pipeline located in Beauregard, Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes in Louisiana. The expansion project will transport domestic natural gas to the proposed Cameron LNG liquefaction project in Hackberry, Louisiana.
Port Arthur Pipeline Texas Connector- In Development
Port Arthur Pipeline, LLC, is proposing to develop a natural gas pipeline in connection with the proposed development of the Port Arthur Liquefaction Project by Port Arthur LNG, LLC, and PALNG Common Facilities Company, LLC in Jefferson County, Texas.
Port Arthur Pipeline Louisiana Connector – In Development
The proposed Port Arthur Pipeline Louisiana Connector project will transport and provide natural gas as an additional feed gas source to the proposed Port Arthur LNG liquefaction project.
Natural Gas Storage
Bay Gas Storage – In Operation
Sempra’s Bay Gas Storage facility – comprised of five high-deliverability underground natural storage caverns – provides safe and reliable storage solutions in southwest Alabama.
LA Storage – In Development
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved construction of four natural gas caverns in Cameron Parish near Hackberry, Louisiana. When completed, this project will provide approximately 19 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity and interconnect with the mainline of Cameron Interstate Pipeline via a 5.1 mile, 36-inch-diameter bi-directional pipeline.
At Sempra, safety is our top priority. That extends to the operation of our underground natural gas pipelines. Learn more about pipeline safety and how to recognize if a pipeline is located near you.
