Sempra LNG
David M. Cobb is vice president of operations for Sempra LNG, which leads Sempra
Energy’s efforts to develop, build and operate liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving
terminals.
In his current position, Cobb is responsible for developing and operating
liquefied natural gas receiving facilities. Currently, Sempra LNG is
planning three LNG receiving facilities: the 1.5 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per
day Cameron LNG facility, located in Hackberry, Louisiana, the 1 Bcf per day
Energía Costa Azul facility, located about 14 miles north of Ensenada in Baja
California, Mexico, and the 1.5 Bcf per day Port Arthur LNG facility located
near Port Arthur, Texas.
Previously, Cobb served as general manager of LNG operations for Sempra Energy
International, which carried out the development, permitting and technical
design for Sempra Energy’s Cameron LNG and Energía Costa Azul LNG facilities.
Cobb joined Sempra Energy in January 2003.
Previously, Cobb held positions of increasing responsibility with CMS Energy’s
Panhandle Companies for over 22 years. As general manager for LNG business
development, Cobb created new LNG business opportunities and directed
development activities including a proposed LNG receiving facility in Chennai,
India. Prior to that position, Cobb served as plant manager of Panhandle
Companies’ Trunkline LNG receiving terminal in Lake Charles, Louisiana. and of a gas
processing and separation facility in Iowa, Louisiana.
During his career, Cobb has provided consulting services related to design,
start-up and problem resolution for LNG receiving terminal operators and
designers in Europe, Asia and North America.
Cobb holds a master’s degree in business administration from McNeese State
University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical
engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Cobb is a registered
professional engineer in Texas.
