As part of its site development and permitting process, Cameron LNG is responsible for mitigating the site's impact to wetlands. As part of its construction project, Cameron LNG dredged several million cubic yards of material. Cameron LNG has worked with the permitting authorities and local landowners to find areas acceptable for dredge disposal placement that will also be suitable for marsh creation.

Cameron LNG is required under its permits to create a minimum of 55 acres of wetlands. Cameron LNG expects to create significantly more wetlands than the required amount, as several million cubic yards of dredge material will be beneficially placed in open water at the optimum elevation to establish a functioning marsh. Cameron LNG may enhance the marsh creation with the planting of native species.

Through this effort, Cameron LNG anticipates that several hundred acres of functioning marshland will be created.
