Senior management team in place

Although the LNG terminal is not scheduled to be completed until late 2008, Cameron LNG has already hired the senior management team. "It's key to the success of this facility to have the terminal manager and the senior operations team in place while the terminal is under construction," says David Cobb, vice president of operations for Sempra LNG. "We want the team to know every detail of this facility and that's a lot easier to do when you see and experience it from the ground up."...

Playground opens in Cameron

Cameron LNG staff and local officials dedicate the new Cameron Library Community Park.

Hurricane Rita's devastation left no safe area for the children of Cameron Parish's east side to gather and play. In late February, work was completed on a new playground adjacent to the Cameron Library. Now, the Cameron Library's community park will provide that fun and safe play area.

"We've been working with the Cameron Library for the last six months on this project and it is exciting to see this park and playground open," says Kelly Prasser, Sempra Energy's regional manager of Corporate & Community Relations. "It provides a safe place for the children and has the added bonus of enhancing the area around the library."...

Roof raised at Cameron LNG

Construction update

On March 6, the roof of Cameron LNG's Tank 203 - the tank closest to Highway 27 - was lifted and secured. "This is a significant milestone for the project," says Joe Risse, Cameron LNG program manager.

The process involved lifting the pre-assembled, 550-ton, 254-foot-diameter roof structure 118 feet on a cushion of air at the rate of about 6 inches per minute. Fans outside the tank helped get the job done...

One million safe hours achieved

Cameron LNG construction workers recently reached the enviable goal of 1 million construction hours worked without a lost-time accident - a milestone few projects ever reach.

"Working safely is how we do business," says Alan Zachary, construction site manager. "All workers on our site are responsible not only for their safety, but also for those around them. It is a commitment we make every day."...
