Cameron LNG more than 30% complete

Construction at the Cameron LNG terminal is now more than 30% complete, and the project is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The nearly 400 construction workers on-site have put in over 620,000 hours without any "lost-time accidents”.  A lost-time accident is an accident that would cause an employee to miss a day of work.  Since safety is a top priority for the management team of Cameron LNG, this record is an outstanding achievement.

When this LNG facility becomes operational in early 2008, it will employ between 60 to 70 full-time employees and contribute an estimated $3.1 million per year in payroll and corporate taxes.

Terminal Construction
The most visible construction progress at the terminal site is the three rising natural gas storage tanks. All of the tank roofs are in the process of being assembled. The first tank roof is expected to be raised in February 2007.

Some interesting facts:
    • There will be more steel in the three LNG storage tanks than there is in the entire Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
    • Each tank will hold 160,000 cubic meters of natural gas in its liquid state; comparable to 160 million, 1-liter bottles of soda.
    • LNG is odorless, colorless, non-corrosive and non-toxic. Its weight is less than one-half that of water.
