There's been some reports recently about the safety of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The truth is that the LNG industry has been around for decades and it has a good safety record. In fact, LNG is one of the safer petroleum-based fuels around.

Cameron LNG cleans up
at Annual Trash Bash

The Cameron LNG project team, along with its construction vendor AK|IHI and subcontractors rolled up their sleeves and lent their hands to help clean up Hackberry at the Annual Fall Trash Bash. Although it's been over a year since Hurricane Rita devastated the area, trash and debris continue to plague the community. In an effort to continue to grow the company's community involvement in Cameron Parish, Cameron LNG held its first Community Advisory Committee team meeting, which provided its new seven member panel with an up close and personal view of the $750 million construction project.

Holiday Festival December 8th

A Hackberry High School student committee, under the direction of school librarian Kathy Helmer, is taking the lead this year in planning the 3rd Annual Hackberry Holiday Festival—an event originally created by Cameron LNG that has become a new tradition of the holiday season in Hackberry.

"This event will be focused on acknowledging and celebrating the richness of this community and people who live here," announced Kelly Prasser, Sempra Energy's Community Relations manager. "We are thrilled to have the students' participation in helping to shape this year's celebration."

The event returns to the Hackberry Community Center and is open to the entire community to attend. The festival is free...

Cameron LNG more than 30% complete Construction update

Construction at the Cameron LNG terminal is now more than 30% complete, and the project is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The nearly 400 construction workers on-site have put in over 620,000 hours without any "lost-time accidents". A lost-time accident is an accident that would cause an employee to miss a day of work. Since safety is a top priority for the management team of Cameron LNG, this record is an outstanding achievement.

When this LNG facility becomes operational in early 2008, it will employ between 60 to 70 full-time employees and contribute an estimated $3.1 million per year in payroll and corporate taxes...
