Safety

Safety is a top priority at all Sempra Energy facilities, and Sempra LNG is no different. We will build these facilities to meet or exceed national and international safety requirements. Also, U.S. regulators are examining the risks and safety procedures associated with LNG, and we welcome that effort. Mexico standards are similar to those in the United States and, in some areas, are even more stringent.

For more than 45 years, LNG has maintained an excellent safety record. During that time LNG ships have made more than 40,000 safe voyages covering nearly 100 million miles. More than 150 ships around the world deliver about 25 billion cubic feet of LNG per day. All natural gas consumed in Japan and Korea is delivered in this form, while countries like France and Spain are also large consumers of LNG.
